Pleasantries hosting forum on effective communication strategies for people with dementia Feb. 28 in Marlborough
By Douglas Flynn / February 8, 2017

Communication is more than just talking and listening - it's also about sending and receiving messages through attitude, tone of voice, facial expressions and body language.

As people with Alzheimer's disease and other dementias progress in their journey and the ability to use words is lost, families need new ways to connect. The Alzheimer's Association invites you to join them to explore how communication takes place when someone has Alzheimer's, how to learn to decode the verbal and behavioral messages delivered by someone with dementia, and how to identify strategies to help you connect and communicate at each stage of the disease.

The "Effective Communication Strategies for People with Dementia" forum is presented by Julie McMurray of the Alzheimer's Association and will be hosted by Pleasantries Adult Day Services (195 Reservoir Street, Marlborough, MA 01752) from 6-7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 28, 2017. Please RSVP by calling 800-272-3900.
