Resources and support for Alzheimer's caregivers during Alzheimer's and Brain Awareness Month
By Douglas Flynn / June 23, 2017
June is Alzheimer's & Brain Awareness Month.

Throughout the month, the Alzheimer's Association and other organizations have been hosting events and leading campaigns to raise needed funds to continue research in pursuit of a cure, offer support to those suffering from the disease and the loved ones caring for them, and bring awareness to the fight against Alzheimer's disease.

Visit the Alzheimer's Association website for more information about this month's activities and for information in general about the disease. You can also check out our section on Alzheimer's here on CaregivingMetroWest.org.

In addition, the National Institute on Aging provides a wealth of resources to help you learn more about the disease and the resources available to help.

A diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease can be challenging for both older adults and their caregivers. But getting accurate information and support can help you know what to expect and how to plan for both you and your loved one.

You can learn about the disease itself, common medical problems for people with Alzheimer's, legal and financial planning for someone with the disease, and the next steps to take after being diagnosed with Alzheimer's.

The National Institute on Aging also offers a comprehensive guide for "Caring for a Person with Alzheimer's Disease."
