West River Hospice offering "Healing through Writing" six-week course in Framingham
By Douglas Flynn / July 14, 2017

West River Hospice is offering a new program, "Narrative Medicine: Healing through Writing."

This is a six-week series that will explore the art of collecting and telling our sacred stories.  Narrating grief, loss or illness is helpful for anyone who has been patient, caregiver, spouse, or child.

Emily Rapp in her book, The Still Point of the Turning World, explains "the ways in which writing about the experience from the inside creates something new, namely a safe or safe-ish place to rest  . . .  to view the turbulent and troubled water without having to wade in it every moment of the day."  Writing can be healing!

This new group begins on Wednesday, July 19 from 2-3:30 p.m. at the Callahan Senior Center in Framingham.  Registration is necessary by calling 508-532-5980.

West River Hospice will also host "Tea on the Rooftop" later this month, inviting all to join them and get out of the hot summer sun and relax on the rooftop. This event offers participants a chance to sip some tea, enjoy some sweets, and listen to some good ole' music provided by pianist, Doug Robinson.  A beautiful gift basket will be raffled.

The event is on Wednesday ,July 26 from 2-3:30 p.m.  Please RSVP by calling 781-455-7555.
