BayPath Spotlight: Money Management Program
By DebraMcDonagh / May 13, 2019

As a caregiver, it is normal to feel overwhelmed by the sheer amount of tasks involved in assuming responsibility for the health and care of a loved one.  BayPath Elder Services, Inc. offers numerous programs designed to help individuals across the lifespan to live with dignity and independence.

Depending on the stage of your caregiving journey, some of these programs can assist with aspects of your loved ones care. Our information and referral team is available to help determine if your loved one is eligible.  508-573-7200

In this post, we are shining a spotlight on BayPath’s Money Management Program, which provides much-needed support for elders who have difficulty managing their day-to-day finances, offering free assistance with bill-paying, budgeting, reading mail, advocating with service providers and more.

The program operates primarily through the gracious and unwavering support of over 85 community volunteers, who provide approximately 180 hours of service each month. Individual volunteers support one to two consumers, spending between two and 12 hours each month.

The Money Managers work with consumers to provide a financial approach that is tailored to their personal situation. Collaboratively, they create a budget that covers necessary costs such as living expenses, insurance, and medications, right down to helping the consumers to be able to pay for desired items like pet food, cable t.v. or even the ability to get a cup of coffee from a shop as a treat. The process enables the consumers to feel more in control of their finances.
