State Representative Tom Sannicandro hosting educational event on Real Lives Act on July 21 in Framingham
By Douglas Flynn / July 10, 2015

State Representative Tom Sannicandro will be hosting "Your Voice, Your Choice," an educational evening on the Real Lives Act of 2014 on Tuesday, July 21.

The forum will be held from 7-8 p.m. at the Cameron Middle School Auditorium (215 Elm Street, Framingham, MA 01701). The venue is ADA compliant and wheelchair accessible.

The Real Lives Act is a milestone in disability policy, allowing individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to self-direct the delivery of their support services.

The forum will feature a panel discussion with cross-disciplinary experts and new users of the law to learn more about self-direction, what the Real Lives Act is and how to make it work for you. The panel will include Buddy Bostick, a who serves as Chief Program Officer of the Arc of Greater Haverhill-Newburyport after 22 years at the Department of Developmental Services, Marc Fenton, who has 40 years of experience serving health, human services and Medicaid agencies in 30 states and is an expert in financial management and direction services and supports for persons with disabilities, and Kevin Mahoney, PhD of the Boston College School of Social Work, where he is known for his research on participant direction of home and community-based services and supports for people with disabilities.
