New Supportive Housing Program launched in Marlborough

BayPath Elder Services, Inc. celebrated the opening of its new Supportive Housing Program in Marlborough with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, January 30.
The ceremony was held at 397 Bolton Street, one of three public housing sites – along with the Liberty Hill Apartments and 29 Pleasant Street – in the Marlborough program.
The supportive housing program in Marlborough is a partnership between BayPath, the Marlborough Community Development Authority – Housing Division and Partners Private Care, along with the tenants of the residences.
Under the terms of the Supportive Housing Program, a Resident Coordinator from BayPath will be available to the tenants and a care worker from Partners will be on site 24/7, available to all tenants in an emergency. A meal program has also been established at 397 Bolton Street, and will continue at 240 Main Street until the Senior Center relocates to its new building.
The Massachusetts Supportive Housing Program was developed in 1999 by the Executive Office of Elder Affairs and the Department of Housing and Community Development. The program is designed to help seniors maintain their independence and “age in place” by providing better access to supportive services.
On hand to celebrate the launch of the Marlborough program on Friday were Doug Bushman from the Marlborough Housing Authority, Christine Alessandro, the Executive Director of BayPath, Barbara McGuire, the President of the Tenants’ Association, Sue Temper, EOEA’s Assistant Secretary for Programs and Operations, Rey Spadoni, President of Partners HealthCare at Home, and State Representative Danielle Gregoire, as well as a packed house of tenants and other community representatives.
