Information and resources that support your role in caring for a loved one.

November is National Family Caregivers Month, and Massachusetts will open the month with a special event to recognize the thousands caring for loved ones across the Commonwealth.

On Monday, November 2, join caregivers, respite providers, advocates, legislators and government officials as family caregivers across the lifespan are honored in recognition of National Family Caregivers Month. The event, “Respite: Care for the Caregiver,” will be held from 1:30-4 p.m. in the Nurses Hall on the second floor of the State House in Boston.

The program agenda will include Amy Nazaire, Project Director of the Massachusetts Lifespan Respite Coalition; Elin M. Howe, Commissioner of the Department of Developmental Services; Alice Bonner, Secretary of the Executive Office of Elder Affairs; Francisco Urena, Secretary of the Department of Veterans’ Services; Michael E. Festa, State Director of AARP Massachusetts; as well as a recognition of innovative community projects providing respite and support; and a video presentation from the Massachusetts Respite Coalition.

The event is a collaborative initiative of the Executive Office of Elder Affairs, the Department of Developmental Services, the Department of Veterans’ Services, the Massachusetts Lifespan Respite Coalition and AARP Massachusetts.
