CAREGIVING CHRONICLES

Information and resources that support your role in caring for a loved one.

Home Instead Senior Care is offering free Alzheimer’s support groups at their Natick and Northborough locations.

The support groups are designed for anyone who is a caregiver for a loved one with Alzheimer’s or other dementias. Discussions will be facilitated and guided toward understanding individual situations and creating solutions to the many different needs of the group. It will be a place to share your feelings, hear from others in similar situations and get help solving mutual problems.

The support groups will be led by Felicia Cardone, who is an Alzheimer’s Association Support Group Leader and Trainer and the Retention and Caregiver Training Supervisor for Home Instead Senior Care. Cardone was her own mother’s caregiver for 11 years and will be able to help attendees with the emotional aspects of caregiving and living with someone who has Alzheimer`s disease or other dementias.

The support groups will meet in Natick (209 W. Central Street, Suite 210) on the second Monday of each month from 10-11:30 a.m. and in Northborough (386 W. Main Street, Suite 14) on the third Monday of each month from 10-11;30 a.m. Light refreshments will be served.

Preregistration is required. Please call 508-393-8338 and ask for Felicia for more information or to register.

Home Instead Senior Care has also launched a public education program called Alzheimer’s Friendly Business that is designed to provide locations within our community to become a safer environment for those suffering from Alzheimer’s disease or other dementias. The free training should help staff better understand Alzheimer’s disease and manage related behavioral situations that may arise in the work setting because of this disease. Call 508-393-8338 for more information.
